THIS IS A SAMPLE OF SELECTED WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO
This year in English we will be reading everything from Catcher In The Rye to The Hobbit to Julius Caesar. We will also be doing many writing and oral assignments. This will include annotated reading assesments which is when we compile a reading list of all the noteworthy novels we have read. Each student wil also be doing a major research paper
Although this seems like a large workload it not being done for nothing. The purpose of this is to mold us into better English students. I hope to hone my skills as a writer and to improve my ability as a reader by extracting as much inferential meaning as possible.
The five aspects of Honors English II is reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing. I'm sure that this year our class will go above and beyond in our classroom discussions. Some fond memories come to mind when these aspects are brought up. One in paticular is from last year when our class was studying Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Instead of only reading it, we viewed it also. This was a smart decision because Romeo and Juliet was written as a play and should be viewed as a play. Another thought that comes to mind is the great short stories that we read. My favorite was "The Most Dangerous Game" because of the well developed characters (Rainsford) and the nonstop action and excitement.
It is hoped that this year will be even more productive and informative than the last. This goal is not out of reach either and should be very anticipated while looking at all the great literary works we shall be reading. Go Home!
